HK Edit now represents fibre artist Nurit Ophir. We have an incredible range of her recent works. As these are best seen in person we recommend visiting our showroom to view them. Alternately you can request a video call to view her work if you are not in the Sydney Area.
Nurit's art-making process begins with foraging for suitable natural fibres from local parks and gardens around Sydney. While predominantly using native plant material, she also enjoys using materials that provide interesting textural contrast. The form a piece takes is dictated by the materials at hand. It’s an intuitive process that keeps her close to nature and on a meditative journey of making.
Nurit's attraction to the world of design, colour and fibre has developed over many years through studies in silversmithing, textile design, screen-printing and carpet restoration and says "I am hoping to engage people’s appreciation of the extraordinary depth of complex beauty in natural fibres."
